ALL ABOUT DANCE

2025-2026 TEAM RULES GUIDLINES

TRYOUTS:  The Coach(s) will determine the number of team members during tryouts. Every individual must realize that dancing on the team is a privilege and requires time, effort, energy, and cooperation. Each team member is always expected to give 100%. Team placement and dance selection will be determined by the Coach(s), and are based on technical skill, performance ability, age, and commitment of the dancer. This is the decision of the Coach(s) and staff only.

BEHAVIOR:

  1. Dancers are expected to be respectful of the coaches, team members, all staff members, competition or convention staff and participants, and any visitors. Dancers will treat everyone with respect both inside AND outside practice. Dancers are expected to exhibit exemplary behavior at all public appearances, competitions, conventions, social media accounts, etc., this includes good sportsmanship and support of teammates and other participants. If a dancer shows disrespect to a fellow dancer by any inappropriate talk or action either in person or via social media, the coach(s) has the authority to carry out consequences.

  2. Dancers should bring any interpersonal misunderstandings to the coach's attention immediately. Individuals should not take matters into their own hands. If the Coach is notified of ongoing drama, parents may be involved in a group discussion, or there may be individual meetings with the dancer to rectify the situation.

  3. Parents are expected to exhibit the same high standards of behavior required of Dancers as mentioned above, and to be supportive of the Team and other parents. Interpersonal conflict between parents should be brought to the Coach's attention immediately. Parent drama will NOT be tolerated and could result in the dismissal of a Dancer(s) from the team. Not only do parents serve as role models for the Dancers, but they also represent the Studio to the public.

  4. SOCIAL MEDIA. Being a member of the team means that you are a representative of this team. Just as you are to show respect to the studio, its staff, and all other dancers, you should continue this respect into your personal life as well. Anything you post on any form of social media, or the internet should not be in any way negative or derogatory towards the studio or anyone associated with the studio which includes all coaches and staff, dancers, and parents. In the event that a negative or derogatory post against the All About Dance Studio is brought to the attention of coaches or staff it will be dealt with immediately and seriously. These infractions could result in dismissal from the team.

  5. Each Dancer and Parent must sign a Team Contract. By doing so, each Dancer and   Parent agree to follow all Team rules, to always show respect to the Team, the Coach(s), and other dancers, and to meet financial obligations. If a Dancer (or Parent) does not abide by the Rules, there will be consequences such as:

    a. Private conversation between staff and Dancer and/or Parent.

b. phone call to parent to have the student picked up early and/or to discuss the problem with the parent.

c. Dancer may be unable to participate in the next competition or solo competition, WITH NO REFUND OF FEES.

d. Dancer may be removed from the All About Dance team, WITH NO REFUND for any monies expended.

POOR BEHAVIOR TO THE COACH, STAFF, OR TEAM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

Any Dancer (or Parent) who threatens to quit the team will be dismissed from the team immediately, with no refund of monies expended.

Media Release: AAD reserves the right to use any and all photos/videos/and media taken at the studio or competitions to post to media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Website, etc. for both sharing of our amazing dancers but also for advertising. If you are concerned about this or cannot allow this for your dancer, please notify the coach(s).

PRACTICES AND COMPETITIONS

GROUPS:

  1. Dance placements are at the discretion of the Coach and staff, and are made based on tryout performance, the dancer's team history, performance ability, personal commitment, age, and unique skills. If a number has a featured dancer, those dancers will be chosen during an audition for the role, and the same qualifications apply.

  2. Style/genre placement categories for group dances and solos for competition are at the discretion of the Coach(s). These are based on the technical skills displayed by the dancer(s), team history, performance ability, and personal commitment. This includes placement for skill level and for style. Each competition has a unique set of rules and circumstances, and category and style placements for each competition will be made by the Coach one competition at a time. This is not a subject for discussion amongst the team.  WE DO NOT LET OTHER DANCER’S OR PARENTS PERSUADE OUR DECISION, NOR SHOULD YOU!

  3. New Guideline- The Studio is Closed for viewing to parents and siblings, except on the First class of the Month, when they may observe the final 10 minutes of each dancers class.

  4. In order to Maintain a focused learning environment, we ask that dancers arrive promptly for their scheduled practice time and refrain from arriving more than 30 minutes in advance.

  5. Dancers do not need to have any appointments for nails, hair, tanning etc. on their practice days. We have limited days through the week, so you need to plan accordingly.

  1. Once the practice schedule, camp dates, and competition schedules are set, they will not be changed. Dancers are given the opportunity to present conflicts in scheduling to the Coach before the finalization of any schedule. Please pay attention to the schedules and bring conflicts to the Coach's attention as soon as possible to make scheduling smooth and easy.

  2. In the event that a practice must be canceled, Dancers will be notified by call or text, and the information will be posted on the group Facebook page. However, cancellation is extremely rare. In regard to competition, once those dates are agreed upon and fees have been paid, they will not be changed, and the fees will not be refunded. Competitions are rarely canceled or postponed due to inclement weather. Please note that competitions do not give refunds, regardless of the reason a Dancer is unable to attend (illness, injury, other commitment, travel, or weather). As of 6/1/2022 there will be NO REFUNDS on class tuition, if classes are canceled due to a pandemic/act of God etc. We will do our best to reschedule practice and/or events. We will also offer Online/Zoom classes to make up for any missed opportunities.

  3. If Glasgow schools are closed for weather and/or an act of God, All About Dance studio will be closed for practices as well. Monthly tuition will NOT be pro-rated for practices missed due to weather. If classes are canceled, team will have a makeup class scheduled. If, at any time, a Dancer or Parent feels that the road conditions in their area make it unsafe to travel, the Dancer should contact the Coach and will be excused from practice.

  4. There are times the team will vote on which competitions to attend, and each dancer has the opportunity at that time to let the Coach know about potential conflicts.

  5. No Dancer is excused from attending a practice session or competition unless granted permission from the Coach. A job is not an acceptable reason to miss practice or competition. Important family events, certain doctor's appointments, and some important school activities may be excused, but only when approved by Coach prior to the absence. Multiple absences from the same school event will not be excused. Practice is extremely important, and the team needs all dancers in attendance for practice to be effective. Dancers who are absent from practice are required to schedule a make-up private lesson; if you are unable to cooperate, consequences will be administered after the conference with the coaches.

  1. A Dancer is allowed 5 unexcused absences only. An absence is unexcused if you choose to miss practice for an unacceptable reason and/or without giving appropriate notice to the Coach. For multiple unexcused absences, you will have a conference with the Coach and may be dismissed from the team or prohibited from competing in an upcoming competition with no refund.

  2. If a dancer is ill or injured at the time of a competition or other performance, group dances must be given priority over solo/duet competitions or outside commitments. If a dancer is unable to compete due to injury, the dancer is expected to attend the competition, at the discretion of the coach, to support the team. If a dancer is injured the dancer is expected to attend practices to watch as his/her injury if allows. If the injury progresses and affects the dancer's health/body the dancer will be excused from the team.

  3. Participation in other activities is encouraged. However, dancing at AAD requires dedication. Coaches will work to the best of their ability to accommodate participation in school activities. Any conflict in scheduling should be brought to the Coach's attention immediately when joining in with other activities. Dancers should refer to the AAD team schedule of events to ensure there are no insurmountable conflicts. Ultimately, this is a team sport, and the best interest of the group comes FIRST. A dancer may not miss multiple consecutive practices for a school activity. (for example, the dancer may not miss every Thursday for a month). When a dancer misses multiple practices, competitions or special events, the entire team is negatively affected. Again, most conflicts can be dealt with when the Coach is given notice. Private lessons will be REQUIRED for every missed practice (but missing a month is not acceptable)!!!

  4. Dancers are expected to get good grades. Schoolwork does come first, but Dancers must learn to manage their time between dance and schoolwork appropriately. ABSENCES DUE TO SCHOOLWORK SHOULD BE RARE!

  5. Dancers should eat BEFORE practice or bring a snack to practice if needed. Dancers are expected to clean up after themselves. Please limit snacks as much as possible to healthy food choices. No gum, jewelry, or candy during practice. Excessive use of cell phones will be taken away until practice time is over. Getting a drink break does NOT require picking up a cell phone!!!

  1. Dancers must wear appropriate dance apparel (clothing that conforms to the body, designated dance shoes, hair pulled back). It is acceptable to wear layers when warming up and stretching but these layers need to be removed once this portion of class is over. Hair and jewelry need to be put up and removed before class begins. It is very important that dancers bring appropriate dance shoes to EVERY class.

  2. ABSOLUTELY NO USE of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol at any time. Such usage may result in the Dancer being expelled from the team. Please also keep this in mind when posting to the internet or any social media.

  3. Each Dancer must have a designated adult with them at each Competition to assist with hair, makeup, costume changes, and supervision. If a parent is unable to attend a competition for some reason, that parent must arrange a designated adult to supervise their Dancer and must notify the Coach accordingly.

  4. Competition hair and makeup styles are at the discretion of the AAD staff. Each dancer is expected to learn to achieve these styles ON HIS/HER OWN, after a team meeting in which this will be demonstrated. This makeup will require the purchase of specific eye shadow, lipstick, and blush. Dancers with shorter hair may be required to purchase hair extensions to achieve a certain style.

  5. Competition schedules are generally released 7-10 days prior to the date of the event. Dancers may be scheduled on any combination of Friday afternoons and evenings, Saturday, and/or Sunday, and families should plan accordingly. Competitions will not change the assigned performance order to accommodate school, school activities or work schedules.

  6. If a Dancer is unable to attend a competition for some reason, he/she must give the Coach 30-day notice, unless it is an emergency situation such as a death, serious illness, or injury. This allows the Coach time to alter routines as necessary.

  7. During competitions, Dancers and parents should be prepared to be at the venue a minimum of 2 hours prior to their scheduled performance time and stay for the award ceremonies. Dancers should be aware that food and drinks are not always available at a venue, or may be very expensive, and the schedule and location may prevent Dancers from leaving the venue to eat. Dancers should ALWAYS come prepared with bottled water for hydration and food to tide them over until the end of the day. Dancers may not leave the venue between dances without the Coach's approval.

  1. IT IS MANDATORY FOR EVERY DANCER TO STAY FOR THEIR AWARDS CEREMONY (unless the coach gives permission to leave, but this is very rare).  COACHES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO STAY FOR SOLOIST AWARD CEREMONY.

  2. Information will be handed out to Dancers in the form of a monthly calendar and other handouts presented during class time. Information will also be posted on the All About Dance Competition Team Facebook page. It is the responsibility of the Dancer and/or parent to keep up with information given.

SOLOISTS:

  1. Due to an increase in interest of solo competition, we will be putting a cap on the amount of solos. It is to the coach(s) discretion how many solos they see fit to compete. This decision will be made based on dancer’s ability and readiness, dancer’s overall commitment to the responsibilities, time, and effort required to do a solo, and scheduling.

  2. Dancers will move up to the next level in their third year of competing a solo and/or once a dancer has placed numerous 1st overall or top-ranking scores (ex. Consistently scoring highest award per competition i.e. crystal/diamond/double platinum etc.). The soloist can have a trial run for a new season in the beginner level for the first competition ONLY but after that its mandatory to bump up. This is to ensure the best interest of each dancer and allow you to continue striving towards top placement. We hope you understand this bump rule and any questions feel free to ask.

  3. To be able to perform your solo at recital you must compete said solo at three or more competitions earlier that season.

ADDITIONAL SOLO CONTRACT FOR THOSE INVITED

***Studio Parking: Please remember there is a business behind us, and we ask please do NOT block the fenced area in the back and do Not block the BBQ Hut’s drive through. Trucks and trailers will be entering through those fenced gates, and they need to be able to access them. You can always Drop off and pick up 😊

COMMUNICATION:

  1.  The Facebook group is a “secret” group, which means that you cannot search for it and ask to be added. In order to be added to the group, you must send a friend request to one of the coaches… we will be creating a NEW updated Team Page 😊

  2. During competition weekends, snow days, etc., we may need to communicate with you via text. Please send a text to (270) 404-1354, with your name and dancer's name included in the text.

  3.  Dancers AND parents: Please remember that it is your responsibility to keep up with the flow of information. With the increased growth of the team, it is impossible for Tiffany to always give out information individually. Handouts are very important and are up to you to keep up with.

FUNDRAISERS

  1. Fundraisers are held throughout the season to help defray costs. A list of fundraising options will be presented to the parents on the Team Facebook page. Parents will then decide on which options they would like to participate in. If there are enough people to participate in the fundraiser, a fundraising schedule will be provided. The Team normally does several “sales” fundraisers throughout the year such as discount cards, Rada knives, etc. Fundraising money earned will be managed by the fundraising committee and will be distributed to the parents at the end of each fundraiser. Fundraiser money is not held in an account by All About Dance.

  2. ALL FUNDRAISERS MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY TIFFANY. In general, all fundraisers will be determined early in the session, and after team parents have been allowed to vote. However, an opportunity may arise at the parent meeting in May which is too good to pass up. Parents may bring those opportunities to Tiffany's attention, and she will determine whether or not to present them to the team.

  3. Fundraisers that are sales based are optional (for example, Rada Cutlery), but a certain number of dancers must agree to participate in the sale to occur. Fundraiser money earned by each Dancer is attributed to that Dancer's individual account, not to the team as a whole. Dancers may choose not to participate in individual fundraising efforts.

  4. When and if the Team has a team fundraiser as a group event, ALL Dancers are expected to participate in the event's workload. Any Dancer who does not participate in some way must make a payment to the team totaling the average sales amount.

  5. Each fundraiser will have a designated parent in charge for that fundraiser. Money earned will be paid to the dancer's parent at the termination of the fundraising event.

  6. **Any Dancer who collects a check for a fundraiser which is returned NSF will be responsible for that payment and for any subsequent NSF and Bank charges charged back to the AAD Parent Account. For example, a returned check for $10 plus a bank fee of $25 will result in Dancer owing AAD $35. AAD is not responsible for trying to collect this money from the purchaser. If the check is of a significant amount, AAD reserves the right to pursue collection via Barren County Attorney's office.

 TEAM/PARENT MEETINGS

Team and Team Parent meetings are mandatory for parents and Dancers. These meetings are critical to the success of the team and will include information about competitions, fundraisers, costumes, makeup and the required hair styles. Anything and everything may be discussed, and it is imperative that Dancers and at least one parent/guardian attend. Often, team meetings may include voting on certain issues. If you are not present, your voice will not be heard, and you then cannot complain about the results. If you are unable to attend for some reason, please contact Tiffany to find out what you missed! Group meetings are kept to a minimum and generally occur only a few times a year.
